6 To prepare to install a card, do one of the following:

m If you need to remove a card, grasp it on the sides and carefully pull it toward the side

of the server.

Set the card on a cushioned surface, taking care not to touch the connectors.

m If no card is in the slot, be sure to remove the slot cover (which came loose when you

loosened the cover’s thumbscrew on the back panel).

7 Remove the card you’re installing from its packaging and hold it by its corners, taking care

not to touch the gold connectors or any of the components on the card.

Pull the PCI card to the side to disengage

it from the PCI riser, and then pull it up and

out of the server.
