Setting a Simple Overlay

An overlay is a graphic used to show the different states of the buttons on your

menu. The main menu background already has text that shows the normal

state of your buttons. By adding an overlay you can show button states with

multiple colors.

In these next few steps you will apply a simple overlay to the main menu and

also learn a couple of navigation tricks for getting around DVD Studio Pro.

1 In the Assets tab double-click Main_Menu_ol.jpg to view the graphic in the

Viewer tab.

This file is a simple overlay where you will substitute a color value for the

black and white.

2 From the Assets tab drag the Main_Menu_ol.jpg file to the Menu tab. Don’t

release the mouse button as the Menu Editor opens. Continue to drag

the file down to the menu. The Drop Palette appears. Choose Set Overlay

from the Drop Palette.

NO T E



When applying an overlay, you won’t see any change to the menu

unless you have a button selected. You have to inspect the menu to see that

the overlay file has been added.
