Entering Chinese Characters Using the Big5 Code Input Mode
The Big5 Code input
m
ode allows you to enter Chinese characters by typing a 4-digit
hexadeci
m
al code for each character. To use this input
m
ode, you
m
ust know the
hexadeci
m
al code for the character. You can use the Character table to look for characters
and see their codes.

To enter Chinese characters using th e B ig5 Code input
m
ode, follow these steps:
1 Choose Big5 Code fro
m
th e Pencil
m
enu.
2 Type the 4-digit code for the character you want to ente r.
Note:
You can type nu

erals using the nu

ber keys on th e
m
ain keyboard or the nu
m
eric
keypad.
The input palette appears if the application you are using does not allow you to enter
characters directly into a docu
m
ent.

If you type an incorrect nu
m
ber before you type the fourth nu
m
ber, you can press the
D
elete
key to b ackspace over the character.
W
hen you type the f ourth digit in the code, the Big5 Code input
m
ode convert s the code to
the Chine se character.
Note:
If you type four digits that are not the code for a character, the syste
m
b eeps.
