Entering Roman Characters
The

plified Chinese Input Met h od provides several ways for you to enter

an
characters while yo u are entering Chinese characters. For exa

ple, you

ight need to

an characters in a business letter.
Entering Roman Characters While Using a Chinese Character Input Mode

hile you are using the Chinese character input
m
odes

you hav e several ways to enter

m
an characters in yo ur docu
m
ent. You can choose
a

o
m
an keyboard or t he

o
m
an input
m
ode to enter t he

o
m
an characters , bu t e ntering
R
o
m
an characters while using the Chines e input
m
ode is faster.
To enter
R
o
m
an characters, you can do one of the following:
m To enter one-by te
R
o
m
an characters, pr ess the Caps
L
ock key and type the
R
o
m
an
characters you want to enter. To ty pe uppercase characters, hold down the
S
hift key while
you type.
m To enter two-byte
R
o
m
an characters for any of the Chines e input
m
odes, choose
U
se Two
Byte

o
m
an Char acters fro
m
th e Pencil
m
enu.
m To enter uppercase, two-b yte

an characters while using the

ubi Xing or

odes, hold down the

hift key while typing.
Note:
Be sure the Caps

ock key is not set.

character palettes provided by the input

ode.

About One-Byte and Two-Byte Roman Characters
The Chinese input
m
odes allow you to enter
R
o
m
an characters as one-byte characters or
two-by te char acters.
O
ne-byte characters are the standard
R
o
m
an characters . Two-by te
R
o
m
an characters consist of two bytes, like the Chinese characters, and have the sa
m
e width.

an characters is useful for producing si

ple layouts and for
m
s because
they align with the Chinese characters.
Important The Chinese fonts include only the basic
R
o
m
an characters. You cannot
enter
R
o
m
an characters such as

or
è
unless you switch to a

o
m
an keyboard.
